Lament is something we don't hear about a lot,

especially in comparison to praise and gratitude. We may even think that it is not okay. But lament, which means to express our profound sadness, despair, or frustration, is actually seen as acceptable, and even encouraged throughout Scripture, especially in Psalms, Lamentations and Job. We call out to God in the midst of the storms, and we can implore God to be God, and to hear our cries. As a community, we come together to express our lamentations, to sit in solidarity with each other and with God, and to know that even in that moment, God is here, and we are here for each other.
