Event Description

Rev. Lisa Cressman, an Episcopal priest and Stillwater resident, is giving a workshop at the Benedictine Center in Maplewood called “When Our Hearts are Wintry.” The cost is $25.

“No matter what form of prayer we use, there are times when we don’t feel like praying,” she explains.  “In this workshop, we will explore Christian wisdom to see how we can remain open to the movement of God in our lives even during wintry times.”

Rev. Cressman currently is an assistant priest at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, (located between Afton and Hastings). She is a spiritual director experienced in retreats, teaching and spirituality.  She is one of the church’s musicians who uses everything from traditional hymns to Celtic music to enrich worship services.

Raised in Stillwater, Rev. Cressman has also lived and worked in Indianapolis, Indiana, Salt Lake City, Utah and Berkeley, California.  She earned a master of Divinity degree from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California; and a doctor of Ministry degree from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis.

She moved back to Stillwater in 2006 with her husband Erik, a physician-researcher at the University of Minnesota.  They have two sons.
