In this Lenten Quiet Day/Retreat there will be readings, prayers and meditations centered around one's relationship with God and one's discipleship.
The purpose of the Quiet Day is to enter more deeply into a conversation with God. One of the real challenges that we too often find in our busy lives is finding the time to pray and meditate. This scheduled time will give you an opportunity to deep your relationship with God and to connect with your faith before the beginning of Holy…Continue

Quieting the Mind is a new offering at St. Mary's in Ely. It is a weekly gathering of diverse individuals, drawing from the contemplative practices of meditation and centering. We meet primarily in silence, followed by a time of reflection and sharing. Those who are new to quiet meditative practices who do not think that they can hold silence for two 22 minute sessions are welcome to bring some reflective/spiritual reading with them to read to themselves while the group continues in…Continue

We are having a discussion at St. John's about changing the software we are using for our accounting. We are currently using Quikbooks and it seems to work well enough. The alternative would be to purchase one of the programs designed specifically for churches.
One of the things we are not doing in Quikbooks is pledge reporting. The entries are made as a deposit but that does not help with statements.
Is there anything that does the job well, does not cost a bundle, and…Continue

Our faith calls us to care for one another and serve those in need. Yet the magnitude of the world's needs can seem overwhelming, beyond our ability or capacity to affect. So it was in 2008 that St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church made a seemingly modest, but incredibly bold decision to do “one good thing.”
Five years ago, after much consideration and with a lot of faith, St. John’s decided their “one good thing” was to get to know…Continue

One of St. John’s H2H families is in need of a single/twin bed & mattress for her son. Please contact Diane Wallace-Reid at 651-303-1154, if you know of one that can be donated. Also, the H2H “supply” closet is getting rather low and we are taking in a new family soon. Please bring donated items such as toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, toothpaste, dish soap, shampoo/conditioner, etc. and place them in the H2H box in the Kent Street entrance. Thank you for your help.

You've probably heard of micro-breweries, micromanagement, and microbes, but are you familiar with micro-commissions of new music? Through a micro-commission, a large number of people contribute any amount, large or small (even $1), toward the commissioning of a piece of music. For example, in 2010, over 400 donors combined their resources to commission a full-blown symphonic work for the Minnesota Orchestra. Here at St. John’s, we have the possibility to participate in micro-commissions as…Continue

The parishioners at St. John's have been incredibly generous. In particular, their generosity has led to the building and support of St. John's Clinic Kayoro in Uganda. In 2008, St. John the Evangelist embarked on a relationship with the people of Kayoro, Uganda through a partnership with Give Us Wings. Through our relationship with the people of Kayoro, we have come to know and cherish them. Our community has shared in their joys and struggles and has reached out to assist them as they…Continue
