Calvary, Rochester celebrates Ronald McDonald House partnership

by Amy Crockett, Calvary, Rochester
THANK YOU to all who participated in our first 'Calvary Kids' event on Saturday.  We had a great turn-out (44 kids, and 15 adults) to focus on our project for the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester.

We had the chance to hear a volunteer from the Ronald McDonald House tell us about the house and the families who stay there, and we had a 'photo tour' of the inside of the house and the amentities that the families are able to use while they are in their 'home away from home'.

Our service project was to decorate "family bags" and fill each bag with items for the families who stay at the house.  Each bag contained: bottles of water, juice boxes, fruit snacks, crackers, pen & paper, hot cocoa packets, hand sanitizer, and kleenex.

The kids did a great job and the Ronald McDonald house was so excited to see the bright & colorful bags!  They were going to give each of the 42 families staying at the house a bag outside their door today to start their day with a smile.  Check out the "Ronald McDonald House" Facebook page sometime this week to see a picture of all of our bags!  Thank you all for your participation & enthusiasm!  I am looking forward to our next project and will send out the details soon!
