Christ Church, Woodbury and St. David's, Minnetonka find themselves neighbors in Cardboard City
by Jamie Mair, Christ Church, Woodbury
At Cardboard City on a recent Frida
y night, sponsored by the St. Paul Council of Churches, our Christ Church crew ended up being right next to (boxes practically touching) the group from St. David's, Minnetonka.
The kids (and intrepid chaperones) raised money for homeless families, and heard from two formerly homeless families at the event. The groups (12 youth from Christ Church and six from St. David's, along with various chaperones) also slept out in boxes as part of the event at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Our cardboard boxes were covered in frost and I know three of us Christ Church chaperones didn't sleep at all ... but we still had fun.
Christ Church, Woodbury's crew raised more than $900 for the event.
