During the month of February, St. John the Evangelist will provide homeless families with a place to sleep, snacks and hosts with compassion for their present situation.
Beginning Friday, February 1, we need four volunteers each day. The first two volunteers come from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm and help welcome our guests as they return from dinner and a day's work, training, or daycare. You may be asked to prepare a healthy evening snack, tidy up the kitchen facilities and eating area after use, engage children and youth in activities such as reading, homework games, videos, or lend a sympathetic ear to those struggling with homelessness.
The next two volunteers arrive at 8:00 pm, greet families and secure the building for guests to go to sleep. Guidelines for bedtimes are around 9:00 pm on weekdays and 10:00 pm on weekends. Overnight volunteers will sleep at the church and wake families around 6:00 am on weekdays and 8:00 am on weekends.
