Event Description

A training in your civil rights while you are filming the police, led by the ACLU's Jana Kooren, presented by Friends for a Nonviolent World.

Come join us to learn about:

  • Scenarios in which you might encounter and/or film the police
  • Recent court cases involving the filming of police
  • How to film without interfering with an officer's ability to do his or her job
  • What to do if you’re arrested or detained for filming the police
  • Use of drone cameras in policing incidents
  • What to do if you’re a bystander with no way to film the police
  • Any other questions or scenarios you might  have!

(The right of citizens to film police as they carry out their duties has been explicitly affirmed by the Minneapolis Police Department.)
